Hajj packages 2023 from Pakistan

Pilgrims from Pakistan can perform Hajj either with a government scheme or with approved private Hajj agents in their cities. Since the government scheme has a limited quota, the pilgrims can still perform Hajj with the approved private Hajj tours. The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet has approved the Hajj Policy-2023 with an estimate of Rs 1.175 million as the provisional amount of Hajj expenses, which is 36.59% higher than the amount of the previous year.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony presented the Hajj-2023 Policy Brief.

ECC after discussion approved the Hajj-2023 policy and agreed to provide foreign exchange cover of $90 million.

The policy states that the Hajj quota allocated to Pakistan for 2023 is 179,210, which will be split between government and private Hajj programs in the ratio of 50:50.

A quota of 50% will be reserved for sponsorship programs out of government and private Hajj programs.

Under sponsorship, applicants will be required to deposit their Hajj fees in foreign currency sent from abroad and will not be allowed to deposit Hajj fees from foreign currency accounts in Pakistan.

In addition, the Government Haj Quota Sponsorship Scheme will be used on a first-come, first-served basis and the Ministry of Religious Affairs will decide on the unused quota of the Sponsorship Scheme and its allocation to the regular/private scheme or return to the KSA.

For 2023, the preliminary Hajj package for Northern Region (Multan, Lahore, Sialkot, Islamabad, Rahim Yar Khan, Faisalabad and Peshawar) is Rs 1.17m and for Southern Region (Karachi, Sukkar and Quetta) Rs 1.16m.

Sources informed Profit that there is no age limit for Hajj for this year and intending pilgrims who have performed Hajj during the last 5 years of Hajj (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022) years are not eligible for Hajj 2023. Sponsorship programs are from these restrictions excluded.

Government Hajj scheme

The Ministry of Religious Affairs won’t be receiving any Hajj subsidies this year, according to the reports. It has become difficult to provide inexpensive Hajj packages due to the state of the global economy and the weakening of the Pakistani rupee. As a result, it is anticipated that the Government Hajj Scheme’s expenses may exceed PKR 1 million, although no exact price is announced yet.

For the government Hajj scheme last year, the price varies based on the cities. For Karachi, Quetta, and Sukkur, the Hajj package will cost PKR 745,967 without qurbani and PKR 791,337 with qurbani. If the pilgrims wish to bring along their children, they will have to pay an additional amount of PKR 3,100.

For Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, Faisalabad, and Sialkot, Hajj costs PKR 755,017 with qurbani, and PKR 800,387 without qurbani and an additional PKR 4,000 for pilgrims who opt to bring their children along.

Please note that the prices exclude the token money of PKR 50,000.

Quota for pilgrims paying in USD

The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony in Pakistan has introduced a Sponsorship Scheme for the roughly 22,400 pilgrims depositing their dues in US dollars, wherein they will be allocated a 25% special quota in the government Hajj scheme and will also be exempted from balloting.

According to sources, the ministry would charge PKR 1.1 million to every pilgrim under the government scheme, but the Hajj expenses might rise to PKR 1.3 million in case of further depreciation of the Pakistani Rupee.

USD payments will be accepted through foreign remittances as well.

Each approved private Hajj agent has their own prices, but it has been observed that the prices range from around PKR 700,000 for the economy package and the 5-star package for PKR 900,000 with extra services and amenities.
